Comments Off on Safety Tips for Your Bounce House Rental in Minnesota

With summer here, your kids might be invited to any number of birthday parties or other events with their friends. They may have the opportunity to enjoy playing in a bounce house, but before they head off to that party or event—or before you arrange a bounce house rental in Minnesota for your own event—make sure that both you and your children are aware of what you—and they—can do to make sure that everyone playing in or around a bounce house is safe.

Check that a company is insured: If you hire a company to provide and set up a bounce house for an event, confirm that they are insured. Trained staff members from the company should put together the bounce house and supervise children.

Use stakes for set-up: The bounce house should make use of metal stakes that are pressed into the ground.

Be careful of placement: Be sure that the bounce house rests on a surface that is level and flat. This surface should be clear of sticks, rocks or other objects that protrude from the ground, including sprinklers. Do not place a bounce house close to tree branches, power lines or fences. Similarly, check that there is open space on all sides of the structure.

If the bounce house will be set up inside, position it away from all walls. If the floors in the room are hard, position a soft surface close to the bounce house’s entrance and exit.

Make sure there is adult supervision: At least one adult should always supervise children playing in or around a bounce house.

Don’t overload the bounce house: For the safest experience possible for all children using the bounce house, only one child should be allowed inside at a time. If you do allow more than one child inside the bounce house, children should be approximately the same size and age.

Keep an eye on the air: Instruct all children to leave the bounce house if you observe it losing air or if it is especially windy. Typically, winds between 13-17 mph are too windy for a bounce house to be safe.

Observe age restrictions: Bounce houses should only be used by children age 6 and older. A younger child may not have the same level of strength, coordination or balance to safely enjoy a bounce house as an older child.

Establish rules for what behavior is allowed inside: Be sure that children understand that tumbling, wrestling and flipping are not allowed inside the bounce house. They should also avoid bouncing or playing near the entrance, exit or sides of the bounce house.

Take off any items that may be dangerous: Prior to entering the bounce house, ensure that children remove glasses, jewelry and shoes and take out any sharp objects from their pockets.
